In making this map of the United States, you will gain the information needed to understand the history of this country from 1492 to 1914. The more complete and neat your work, the better you will "get" the rest of the year's knowledge. A grade of "C" can usually be earned in about a week's worth of effort; a grade of "B" or "A" takes about two weeks and requires outside research from the library or sources at home.

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Using the overhead, outline the borders of the continental United States, Alaska, and Hawaii.

2. Choose 5 other states to outline.

3. Sketch by hand the other 43 states.

4. Label all the states and their capitals, major rivers, and mountain ranges. Three dimension maps are always welcome.

5. Color the map.

6. Choose the grade you wish to receive and complete the requirements.

7. Put your name, grade and date on the back of the project.

8. Turn it in.

There are three goals for a grade on this project to adjust to the students' academic capabilities. To see the requirements for a grade click on the appropriate letter grade in the navigation bar that is located on the left hand side of the screen.

Although the maps of information (ie: national monuments map) are seperate, your map will have them labeled on one large map. The state symbols,(ie: bird, flower, flag)however, can be seperate from the map or attached to it for space reasons.
